Gruppo Biokimica continues to invest in the education and development of younger generations, firmly believing that hands-on experience in a professional environment is essential for helping students gain practical skills and a deeper understanding of the world of work.

This commitment is reflected in its participation in the PCTO programme (Pathways for Transversal Skills and Career Guidance), an educational initiative designed to provide upper secondary school students with practical experience that supports both their future career choices and further education.

This year, the BK-LAB training programme, developed in collaboration with the Tuscany Region, once again welcomed students from the Chemistry and Materials Department of I.T. Carlo Cattaneo Technical Institute in San Miniato. During their visit, the students had the opportunity to explore the laboratories and gain first-hand insight into the daily work carried out by our technical specialists.

The visit included demonstrations of some of the laboratory's advanced analytical instrumentation, including the triple quadrupole LC-MS system and HPLC-DAD, used for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of medium- and high-polarity organic compounds in liquid and solid samples, such as bisphenols, PFAS, bioacids and formaldehyde.

Students also learned about the operation of the triple quadrupole GC-MS system, used for the identification and quantification of a wide range of low-polarity, low-molecular-weight organic compounds, including APEOs, APs, phthalates, azo dyes, chlorophenols, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), glycols and siloxanes.
